Are you book lover or cataloger at heart? Or do you enjoy finding lost and forgotten gems on the shelf to read? Then LibraryThing may be just the tool for you. Read a very short introduction to this popular cataloging and tagging tool.Developed for book lovers, this online tool not only allows you to easily create an online catalog of your own. LibraryThing is also an amazing social space, often described as "MySpace for books" or "Facebook for books." You can check out other people's libraries, see who has the most similar library to yours, swap reading suggestions, and LibraryThing also makes book recommendations based on the collective intelligence of the other libraries.
You can join the ranks and create your own library catalog online. With over 65,000 registered (BTW: LibraryThing also has a group forum for librarian users) and over 4.7 million cataloged books, you may discover something new. Some Libraries Using Library Thing:

OK, I got going on this one very easily, found all but one of the books I tried to enter quickly, but I can't figure one thing out.... Some people have cover images posted (user supplied?), but when I add some titles to my book shelf they may show up with no cover. Is it possible to copy cover images from other people's libraries? I can't find help on this (but I haven't looked too hard). SEB's LibraryThing shelf: http://www.librarything.com/catalog.php?view=sikaberger&shelf=shelf
So I looked for Hampshire and I don't get it...looks like a list that is in HTML at their site not Library thing.
I did search Hampshire in groups and found a lot of college sites, some active, some not.
So what do we do with it?
Ideas? Brainstorm
Create a smith reading club site?
Subject based?
Recreational reading
What I'm reading this semester?
course based?
Librarian based?
If we build it will they come?
